(short answer… yes!)

But Candice! Why do we need an email newsletter when we have…

  • Instagram?
  • Facebook?
  • Tik Tok?
  • A website?

Ya know, all that.

This is true, but email marketing is also important for several reasons.

It helps you connect to customers that are already engaged with your business.

One big benefit to email marketing is that it helps you to connect with customers who are already interested in your product or service. Not only that, but they are interested enough to share an email address with you and hear from you on a regular basis. That’s pretty powerful.

It helps you connect with people on your terms.

Social media is a great way to connect with customers, but it does have rules. Your posts need to be a certain length, images need to be a certain size, you have 3 seconds to grab someone’s attention before you are but a distant memory…

With an email, you have more space to say what you need to say. You can promote your products or services in a more customized way.

Email marketing is a great support for eCommerce

When making sales online, emails can be a powerful thing. Obviously, it’s a great way to promote your newest product or service, particularly to people who are interested in what you sell. People are also busy, and tend to leave before they complete a purchase. Nearly 88% of online shopping carts are abandoned before the customer completes a sale. It is HUGE to make sure you have a means to reach these customers… and email is perfect! You can also connect with customers to follow up on their purchase, get reviews and feedback and more!

Social media is an ever changing ecosystem

For better or for worse, social media is constantly changing. The algorithm is always changing, which can change how your posts do or do not appear in follower’s feeds. It’s run by big companies, so you have far less control than an email that you create and send. And let’s be real… it breaks sometimes. Having your newsletter list helps you control your content, regardless of the status of a specific platform.
